Sangita Nandy did her Master's in Drama with specialization in acting from Rabindra
Bharati University, Calcutta. She also had an extensive training in Acting and Mime from Maya Ghosh,
a disciple of late Ajitesh Bandyopadhya and from leading mime exponent Jogesh Dutta and then from
his student, Anjan Deb respectively.
As a member of group theater "Nirbak Abhinay Academy", Sangita has participated
in various dramas like Sampadakio, Bonas, Jay Guru just to name a few ...
with eminent personalities like late Ketaki Dutta, Anjan Deb, Suranjana Dasgupta. She also
performed in various Mime Skits.
She has assisted Anjan Deb in different Mime workshop for different theater group like PLT, Nandipat.
In bay area her recent drama performence was "Prantik" in Sanskriti's Natyamela 2006.
She also participated in Sahjahan (a Bay Bahurupi's production).
She used art as a service to society and devoted time to those in need, including doing a
Mime and Dance workshop with the slum children of Bagbazar, Calcutta and gave performances in
various Orphanage and Juvenile homes like Kishalay and Old Age Homes in Calcutta.
Sangita is also a performer and educator of the North Indian classical dance Kathak.
In the discipline of Kathak, she begun her training under the guidance of Nrityabhilash
Suchandra Banerjee at the "Nupur Dance Academy" and later from Nritya Shiromoni Guru Bandana Sen.
She has participated in various dance pieces and dance dramas choreographed and presented by
Guru Bandana Sen in Calcutta Doordarshan and on different stages in India and USA.
Sangita is a Yoga performer and certified teacher. She started practising yoga at the age of 12.
She has completed her yoga instructer certificate course from Yoga Bharati (USA).
Her recent Yoga performance was in the Hindu Sangam 2006 with her students
at De Anza college on 9th September, 2006.
